Izmir was an amazing place, located right on the Mediterranean. The weather was warm (unlike the foot of snow I heard Maine got!) and allowed us to sit along the shore and have a drink - a very tall drink! This was, of course, after we went to the bazaar which included purchasing magnets and a lot of haggling with shopkeepers. And as usual, everyone wants the Americans to buy all their products, so there's lots of pushing and leading down side streets to half-deserted malls. I tried to evade this by pretending to speak only French, but I'll be darned if they don't speak French too!

The hotel we stayed at, Swissotel Grand Efes, was outstandingly incredible. Enough so that I swear it rivals the best resort hotels in Southeast Asia. We were really lucky on this one!
Turkey can always be a bit hard on March Recruit, as we have to jump on a plane the night after we do hiring, then do some more the next day, which brings me here to Ankara. It's kind of sad that I've been to this city twice, but still have never ventured more than half a block from the hotel for some ice cream or a meal. Just not enough time!
